Our Founders

Scott H. Bryant, CFA - Principal and CIO

Prior to founding BerlylStone, Scott was as a financial analyst and consultant for over eighteen years working with many of world’s leading financial institutions. Most recently, Scott served as an analyst for JPMorgan Mezzanine, a middle-market leveraged-finance fund, and for the JPMorgan Opportunity Fund, a multi-strategy fund of hedge funds. Prior to that, Scott worked for more than a decade as a risk management consultant for the Capital Markets & Treasury group of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). As a PwC consultant, Scott managed strategic, long-term projects in Madrid, Tokyo, and Hong Kong for many of the firm’s most important financial services clients.

Scott received his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2001 and his Bachelors of Science with honors from the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business in 1992.

Randy Burd, Ph.D. - Director of Research

Randy received his Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biophysics in 1998 from the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York and has worked in the area of pharmaceutical and biotechnology research for over a decade. In 2002 he was appointed the director of Pre-Clinical Therapeutics at Thomas Jefferson University. In 2005 he was recruited to the University of Arizona to establish a leading Nutrigenomics program. He has authored numerous articles and received millions of dollars in funding for his research programs. He has served as a consultant for pharmaceutical companies and venture capital firms.

Randy is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Arizona and a co-manager of BerylStone Investment’s managed portfolios.
